The Case For the Sweater Vest

The sweater vest has been a symbol of grandfathers and nerds for years now, but if you didn’t know, grandpa style is currently on trend. Cardigans saw a massive increase in popularity in menswear this year, and now it is sweater vests’ turn for the limelight.

The styling of the vest is the most important part though. You don’t want to wear a “grandpa” piece in the grandpa sort of style and then actually look like an 80 year old man dressed you. You want to add a youthful and fun twist to it to make it less stuffy. I personally think they look great dressed down on the top with some nice trousers. If you decide to wear a dress shirt with the vest, DON’T wear a tie.

I honestly think that the sweater vest looks great with a plain white tee. Tyler The Creator recently styled his in this way at the Brit Awards. Zoë Kravitz also wore a solid green sweater vest with a plain white tee in her new show, High Fidelity on Hulu. She paired the vest with some vintage looking jeans. Obviously, not everyone can be in arguable the coolest family on the planet and can just look good in everything, but I definitely think Zoë Kravitz wore this in a super doable way.
